For over 110 years, Scouting has impacted the lives of American youth. Cub Scout Pack 58 and Scouts BSA Troop 58B&G serve the youth of Rural Retreat, Va. and other surrounding areas. Our goal is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices in their daily life based on the Scout Oath and Law. (Learn more about the BSA’s Mission, Vision, Aims, and Methods.) Even though our pack and troop activities are educational, they are a lot of fun and provide a social setting where young people can make friends with their peers. Our Scouting programs are run by local volunteers who have completed Youth Protection Training.
Cub Scouts, for youths in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, focuses on personal growth activities with family participation. Scouts BSA (or Scouts; formerly Boy Scouts), for youths ages 11-17, focuses on more challenging activities with emphasis on the growth of character, citizenship, and fitness in community and outdoor settings.
The Rural Retreat, Va. Scouting programs are chartered by Rural Retreat Pentecostal Holiness Church. Pack 58 is the local Cub Scout unit which is divided into grade-specific dens. Troop 58 is the local Scouts BSA unit with gender-specific patrols for male and female youths.
